Short range engagements are slightly more ranged than close quarters battles so shotguns tend not to be an issue but things like personal defence weapons and sub machine guns have the high ground. Shootouts at these ranges are fast paced but still give enough time for thought out shot placement. If we were to use Battlefield distances then it would be between 12-50 meters, more often than not these fights take place in corridors and buildings where lines of sight can be easily broken.
This kind of range is mainly used by campers and rushers and due to nature of rushers and their preference for short range combat, campers are their bane as rushers are always on the move.
